As things stand now in the internet age more and more consumers are using the internet to find local business services, our internet connections are faster and we are spending more time in front of the computer.

What this means for the local business owner is that if the average joe is looking up goods and services online then your business needs to be online to attract the internet market which is growing every day, If you are not online you are making your business suffer. Here are some facts you may find interesting.

Fact: There were 928 million internet users as of June 2005.(according to information published by internet world stats)

Fact: Over 75% of online consumers don’t care if the business they are buying/dealing from is a large or small business.(TNS 2004)

Fact: $1.6 trillion was made by ecommerce in 2001, $7.1 trillion in 2007.(HDC)

Fact: Small businesses who use the internet have grown 46% faster than those that do not.(American City Business Journals)

These figures are massive and being a small business, whether you are local or global you should want a slice of this pie.

Can you see why you need a website, people are spending more time online and your website can be working for you day and night, 24 Hours a day. It can be promoting your products, making bookings or collecting names for you to call back later.

For a good sized ad in the yellow pages you will be paying somewhere around the $10000 mark or approx $200 a week or more. You can get a professionally done website up to gather in customers like crazy for under $1000.

Do you see why the yellow pages are slowly losing their appeal and will soon be wasted space. To be a successful business you must move into the 21st century and get online.
In today’s information age the yellow pages are becoming more and more obsolete. More people are finding their goods and services online everyday. Since the average small business website is looking for customers online you need to get on the first page, the odds are extremely amoxil clavulin high that if someone looks up say Carpet Cleaners in Sydney and your business doesn’t pop up on the first page then they are not going to click on your website to see what you have to say.

This does not matter if you spent $10,000 on your website if it isn’t in the first page of Google your online marketing is doomed, but it’s not all bad news. The good news is that you can work at getting your local business to the first page of Google and it does not cost much at all.

So, not only do you need a website, you need a website that will be listed in the top page of Google when someone searches for your type of business. Otherwise your just wasting your money getting a website developed.
