Businesses Card Etiquette To Improve Your Chance Ofa Good Impression Methods
ByI was doing a cash reconciliation when a business woman came in, and threw her business card on my desk with the card facing her. What is wrong with this presentation? 1) no value for the card, her name or her firm, don’t throw them at people if you want business 2) no reason given as to why I would want her card 3) many people including me can’t read upside down as well as they can right side up and 4) no respect shown for me, the potential customer, who needs to place value in her business.
To be Breif, yes, there is a business card etiquette. Many of us know the Eastern approach to giving and receiving cards. You wait until it is generic amoxil appropriate to give the recipient a card, and you hand the card to them facing the recipient with both hands and you give them a moment to actually read and respond to the card. This may seem a tad formal for many of us, but I like it. There is in turn, etiquette for the card receiver. They are expected to thank the person for the card, take time to look and read it and respond politely and appropriately.
This ritual places immense value on the card which actually looks good on the client and the company. And makes good sense to me.
Business cards should infer value (to the person and to the business). I see no value in collecting business cards like baseball cards as there is no gift for who gets the most. For a long time I made a collection of shareholders business cards. I wanted all the cards I could get of Presidents and Directors with the vision that someday my card would, also, read same. The vision materialized, but I used the title Managing Director instead.
Another thing I like to do after the meeting is write a short note or two about the meeting on the back of the card to Direct the follow up. I have a sweet spot for personal photos on business cards, It makes the cards far more effective.
Do I sound too obsessed to you? Do you see worth in your business cards? Let me know your opinion?
Plastic Business cards are an altogether fresh approach to the business introduction, they appear to be far more valuable, and can bestow a powerful lasting impression, they speak volumes about a companies commitment to quality, and imply that for them, only the best will do. The cost of Plastic Cards is slightly more than people would expect to pay for standard paper cards, but the plus points far outweigh this extra cost.
They are almost guaranteed to be kept by the recipient.
